8-Port Gigabit Metal Desktop Switch with 4 PoE Ports.
The DGS-1008P 8-Port Gigabit Unmanaged Desktop Switch with 4 PoE Ports enables office users to easily connect and supply power to Power over Ethernet (PoE) devices such as IP cameras, IP phones, and wireless access points (APs). The eight Gigabit ports provide connectivity for devices and applications that require high speed network access, and reduce bottlenecks that can interrupt communication. The DGS-1008P switch can also connect to additional Ethernet devices like computers, printers, and Network Attached Storage (NAS). This compact PoE switch operates silently, making it ideal for use in virtually any room or office.

Power Over Ethernet (PoE)
The first four ports of the switch support the IEEE 802.3af PoE and 802.3at PoE+ standards. Each of these four ports can supply up to 30 W for a total PoE budget of 68 W, allowing users to attach multiple IEEE 802.3af/at compliant devices to the switch. Use PoE for applications that are far from power outlets, or to minimize the clutter of extra cables. When an end-device is not PoE-compatible, the D-Link DPE-301GS PoE Splitter may be used to split DC power from the data signal at the end device.

High Performance.
The DGS-1008P switch features plug-and-play installation with no additional configuration required. Auto-MDI/MDI-X support on all ports removes the need for crossover cables when connecting to another switch or hub, and auto-negotiation on each port intelligently adjusts the port speed for optimal compatibility with the connected device. With wire-speed filtering and store-and-forward switching, the DGS-1008P switch maximizes network performance while minimizing the transmission of bad network packets.

Conserves Energy.
The DGS-1008P switch features green technology, such as IEEE 802.3az Energy Efficient Ethernet (EEE), link status detection, and cable length detection. Energy Efficient Ethernet reduces power consumption of the switch when network utilization is low, reducing the cost of ownership during periods of inactivity. Link status detection automatically powers down ports when there is no link detected, saving power when the connected device has been shut down or disconnected. Cable length detection automatically adjusts the power output of the port based on the length of the cable, reducing the power requirements of the switch to only what is necessary for the installation.

Compact and Silent.
The DGS-1008P switch has a compact design and may be placed in almost any convenient location. This includes small offices and work spaces where space is at a premium. The desktop form factor provides everything needed to set up a new network, or expand an existing network by connecting it to other switches. The fanless design ensures silent operation, making the switch suitable for office spaces, work floors, and areas which are sensitive to noise, such as meeting rooms.
